Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of B5 Occupational Therapist in the Occupational Therapy Hub across the Stockton community teams. The service is based at Wessex House, Stockton and covers Treatment and Intervention Team, Hub Team and Early Intervention Psychosis. The service is open between 9am and 5pm Monday - Friday. The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality patient focused care in a community setting. The role will involve improving the lives of people with severe and enduring mental health conditions as well as introducing them to our local community transformation partners to continue their journey to recovery. As an occupational therapist in TEWV you will be professionally and clinically accountable for your caseload, assessing occupational performance and delivering occupational interventions, demonstrating adherence to the Trust values at all times and operating as a member of the team, service and organisation. Main duties of the job:

  • Deliver occupational therapy 1:1 and in groups
  • Receive requests for occupational therapy, triage and prioritise these
  • Complete evidence-based assessments and interventions to address key occupational areas of self care, productivity and leisure
  • Use client-centred approaches to co-produce negotiated occupational goals and evaluate these with service users collaboratively
  • Participate in clinical/professional and management supervision
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary team working
  • Contribute to service improvement and quality initiatives
  • Use the Trust electronic patient record system
  • Abide by all Trust policies and procedures
  • Respond flexibly and creatively to challenges

Qualifications (Essential)
  • Appropriate professional qualification in occupational therapy role (or pending)
  • Current relevant registration with HCPC (or pending)
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) level 7 for international recruits

  • Post graduate training in relevant specialist area
Person Specification (Essential)
  • Experience of working in a variety of practice areas whilst on student placements (or postgraduate)
  • Experience of working in Multidisciplinary Team
  • Awareness of professional standards and their application to practice
  • Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions and/or learning disabilities
Person Specification (Desirable)
  • Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
  • Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
  • Knowledge of the evidence base for the clinical practice area
