A leading orthopaedic hospital in Greater London is seeking a Band 6 Occupational Therapist for its chronic pain and rehabilitation team. The role involves conducting biopsychosocial assessments and developing treatment plans for a diverse caseload of patients. We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our chronic pain and rehabilitation team. The specialist multi‑disciplinary team requires a full‑time (37.5 hours) occupational therapist who can contribute to compassionate, patient‑centred care. Our integrated MDT includes physiotherapists, psychologists and nurses. We have inpatient and outpatient treatment streams and provide tailored holistic rehabilitation for patients living with chronic pain and other long‑term conditions. The Occupational Therapists explore every aspect of function, including return to work, enabling these complex clients to manage their condition and quality of life more effectively. This is an exciting post, which will enable you to draw on both your physical and mental health skills. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who wants to work as a valued member of an MDT contributing to the psychological and physical wellbeing of our patients; and who seeks to learn and wants to contribute to excellence in all we do. You will benefit from a structure of clinical specialists, peer support and supervision, and engage in MDT projects to improve and develop the service. You will participate in department teaching programmes alongside colleagues within the MDT and other clinical specialities.
Once training period complete, uses evidence‑based knowledge and clinical reasoning to undertake routine and complex clinical assessment, in a relevant location, eg hospital, nursery, school, work or home, identifying patient needs, treatment aims and goals in collaboration with the individual patient and the MDT. These may be in‑patients, out‑patients or those attending specialist clinics. Assessment and treatment may include splinting, wheelchair adjustment, therapeutic handling / hoisting and discharge planning in a busy and unpredictable environment.
The Trust uses electronic new starter forms on Trac to collect personal details. Information collected is securely stored and used to set up the employee record on the ESR HR system.
