Overview

Are you a Registered Adult Nurse or Midwife who is passionate about reproductive healthcare? We are looking for a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner to join the clinical team within our Richmond Clinic. You will work part-time, 30 hours per week, on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. More details can be found in the further information section below. As a Nurse or Midwife Practitioner you will provide high quality clinical care to our clients across a range of BPAS reproductive healthcare services including termination of pregnancy, STI testing & treatment, contraception & vasectomy. You\'ll be involved in all stages of the client pathway from consultation through to treatment & will work in all areas of the unit including theatre & recovery. This role will involve providing treatment & clinical information to clients both in person & over the phone.

Responsibilities
  • Work in accordance with NMC guidelines for Professional Practice and the wider regulatory frameworks of the Abortion Act 1967 and Health & Social Care Act as well as BPAS clinical policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the client understands her options in relation to the pregnancy, and if choosing termination, meets the ground of the Abortion Act.
  • Provide information on STI testing, undertake tests and provide results and discuss, inform and confirm the client\'s future choice of contraception.
  • Carefully check for and implement any procedure indicated on client case notes, including administering medication for Medical Abortion procedures or cervical preparation.
  • Carry out post-treatment check-ups by assessing the physical condition of the client and discussing any concerns.
  • Complete relevant paperwork and, in the event of post-treatment problems, make arrangements with the clinic or refer to an NHS agency if necessary.
  • Care for and support clients undergoing surgical treatments, including procedures under general anaesthetic, conscious sedation or local anaesthetic.
  • Maintain a registered Adult Nurse (NMC) Level 1 or Midwife with active NMC registration and PIN, with at least 12 months clinical practice and a keen interest in sexual health and reproductive healthcare.
  • Demonstrate safeguarding knowledge and Fraser/Gillick competencies as essential for this role.
  • Display excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills with a compassionate and empathetic approach.
  • Demonstrate sound and accurate administrative competence with attention to detail.
  • Have gynecological nursing experience or relevant specialty (e.g., sexual health, contraception) and venepuncture/cannulation skills.
  • Be comfortable using IT and Microsoft packages including Outlook, Word and Microsoft Teams.

Salary: £42,383 to £48,789 a year, pro rata for part-time; Depending on skills and experience.
