Day Rate (Initial): £250 - £300 per day (first 4 weeks, temp)


Job Type: Temp to Perm (transition to PAYE after 4 weeks)

About the Role

I am seeking an experienced and proactive Site Manager to take full responsibility for a live care home construction project in York. The development is already underway, with superstructure brickwork nearing completion and works progressing onto the first floor. With around 12 months remaining on the programme, the successful candidate will oversee delivery through to project completion and handover.


This is a temp to perm opportunity. For the first 4 weeks, you will be paid on a day rate basis (£250-£300), with the role then transferring to a permanent PAYE position offering a salary of £45,000-£55,000 depending on experience.


Responsibilities


  • Lead the day-to-day management of site operations as the No.1 Site Manager

  • Coordinate subcontractors and direct staff to ensure programme and quality standards are met

  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations

  • Maintain accurate site records, progress reports, and project documentation

  • Chair regular site meetings and provide progress updates to senior management

  • Drive the project towards key milestones and successful handover


Requirements


  • Proven track record as a Site Manager on residential or care sector projects

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage subcontractors effectively

  • SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold), and First Aid certification (essential)

  • Excellent knowledge of construction programmes and sequencing

  • Full UK Driving Licence

  • Ability to deliver high-quality projects on time and to budget
