Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.

Package: £38,020 - £50,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

AWE\'s Nuclear Threat Reduction (NTR) Operations Team is currently looking for an NTR Communications and IT Specialist to contribute to our dynamic and technically challenging area.

Responsibilities

The Nuclear Threat Reduction (NTR) Operations team are looking for an experienced specialist to work within the Communications and IT team. The role is to manage and maintain all the secure communications and IT systems used by AWE staff to support the response capabilities that NTR are involved with, whilst also supporting other government departments; this can include training, exercises, and real deployments.

We would welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate knowledge or experience in several of the following:

  • Experience of managing and maintaining IT hardware
  • Experienced in identifying and implementing user requirements for IT systems
  • Experience of maintaining specialist equipment in classified environments
  • Experience of working in an operational environment
  • Knowledge and experience of through life management
  • An understanding of accreditor requirements and how these are applied practically to IT systems in a secure environment.
  • Knowledge and experience of requirements and restrictions for compartmented systems
  • Experience of developing company policy and procedure to ensure compliance in the use of such systems
  • Ability to work extended hours due to operational commitments

In addition, it would be desirable for candidates to have the following:

  • The ability to work efficiently with minimal guidance from the leadership team
  • Proven ability to communicate well (both written and verbal)
  • Experience of establishing excellent working relationships with key internal stakeholders
  • An ability to work comfortably in a high-pressure environment
  • Knowledge to be able to influence decisions
  • Willing to identify and undertake continuous improvement activities in order to develop the capabilities of NTR

The requirement of this post will also require the successful applicant to undertake travel across the UK and abroad if required; and to work extended periods away from home.
