Job description
Public Health Practitioner Senior

37 hours per week, Grade Agenda for Change Band 6, Base: Summerfield House, Permanent.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Public Health Practitioner Senior to join the Health Improvement Team within the Public Health Directorate. The post will contribute to the strategic support and advise on the development and implementation of health improvement programmes and projects within the Health Improvement Team, working to Public Health priorities, as required. In particular, the post will support the implementation of the Whole Systems Approach to Reducing Obesity across Grampian.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver strategic support and advice on health improvement programmes and projects.
  • Support implementation of Whole Systems Approach to Reducing Obesity across Grampian.
  • Work collaboratively with Public Health colleagues, HSCP teams, clinicians, Allied Health Professionals and managers across Primary and Secondary Care, as well as national, Local Authority and Voluntary Sector colleagues.
  • Manage own workload independently, meeting deadlines and prioritising effectively.
  • Travel throughout the Grampian area as required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Relevant degree in public health or related field, supplemented by specialist public health improvement knowledge (postgraduate diploma level in Public Health/Health Improvement or equivalent).
  • Sound understanding of current health improvement policy and its operational translation.
  • Excellent project and people management skills.
  • Experience of involving/engagement with the public.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and independently.
