Job description

Our dedicated treatment and recovery services offer tailored support to help people challenge dependency. We understand that recovery from dependency is a personal process, and we know that it is possible with the support.

About the Job

At Changing Lives, we recognise that substance dependency is often something that emerges linked to life experiences and we are here to help people explore, make meaning and decide what changes they would like to make moving forward.

We work with people at every stage of their recovery journey. We offer an effective therapeutic support for people, and on-going support as life progresses. We also support people to connect within their communities and to other services that can help with other issues arising, including employment, housing, family relationships, mental health and more.

The post holder will work collaboratively with colleagues in the team and within Changing Lives, alongside a range of external partners and other professionals working within the person's care. Engaging proactively with other practitioners to ensure effective communication and a person-centred support. A key aspect of the role is building effective, trusting relationships with individuals who access the service, supporting their growth, recovery, and long-term wellbeing. The service also actively works to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health.

The role involves working across the North Tyneside area, providing emotional and practical support to individuals while encouraging and supporting engagement in community-based activities. You will deliver therapeutic one-to-one and joint sessions alongside a team-based approach that includes community asset building and psychosocial interventions.

You will provide advice and guidance to individuals on their available options, supporting them to stabilise their situation and access appropriate services and support where required. This includes providing flexible and outreach assertive engagement to individuals involved with the Community Treatment Teams (CTT) in North Tyneside.
