Job description

We're working with a trusted healthcare provider within the Prison Service in Stockton-on-Tees, who are seeking an experienced Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Nurse or Pharmacist Prescriber to support individuals in custody with complex health and substance misuse needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical assessments, diagnoses, and prescribe appropriate treatments for patients with substance misuse and mental health issues.
  • Deliver safe and effective prescribing in line with NICE and service guidelines.
  • Support detoxification and opiate substitution therapy (OST) programmes.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team, including mental health and recovery staff.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, safeguarding, and risk management within the service.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with prison and healthcare policies.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse or Pharmacist with a Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) qualification.
  • Previous experience in substance misuse, offender health, or primary care.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Prison clearance (CTC or Enhanced Vetting) - must be in place or willing to obtain.
  • Sound understanding of OST, detox protocols, and harm reduction.
