Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse or Pharmacist with a Non‑Medical Prescriber (NMP) qualification.
  • Proven experience in substance misuse, offender health, or primary care settings.
  • Excellent clinical assessment, prescribing, and communication skills.
  • Prison clearance (CTC or Enhanced Vetting) – must be in place or willing to obtain.
  • Sound understanding of OST, detox processes, and harm reduction approaches.

  • Deliver safe, evidence‑based prescribing in line with NICE and service guidelines.
  • Support detoxification and opiate substitution therapy (OST) programmes.

  • Maintain accurate clinical records.

We're working with a trusted healthcare provider within the Prison Service in Hull, who are seeking an experienced Non‑Medical Prescriber (NMP) to join their clinical team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Nurse or Pharmacist Prescriber to play a key role in improving the health and wellbeing of individuals in custody.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake clinical assessments, diagnoses, and prescribe appropriate treatments for patients with substance misuse and mental health needs.
  • Deliver safe, evidence‑based prescribing in line with NICE and service guidelines.
  • Support detoxification and opiate substitution therapy (OST) programmes.
  • Work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, including recovery and mental health practitioners.
  • Contribute to clinical governance, safeguarding, and risk management within the service.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in line with prison healthcare policies.
