Job description

NIBTS Collection Teams Education and Training Manager

The Collection Team Education and Training Manager will be required to design, plan, coordinate and deliver all aspects of training and development to blood collection staff through the provision of advice, leadership and support including where appropriate the mentorship of clinical staff. They will be responsible for the training of clinical procedures for blood and component donation in collaboration with the wider clinical services teams and will be the training expert in all aspects of clinical processes within Collection Teams.The post holder will be responsible for assisting and supporting all members of the Collection Team in addressing their requirements with regards clinical skills training, continuing professional development, individual learning and educational needs through provision of robust and effective education and training opportunities ensuring compliance to organisational evidence-based care standards through facilitation of clinical audits. They will work in collaboration with Head of Blood and Component Supply Chain Services and Head of Nursing to ensure consistent and robust evidence based educational programmes are delivered in line with collection team service requirements and to embed a learning and development culture across the collection services.

  • Provide leadership to registered and non-registered collection staff, ensuring excellent standards of clinical practice and operational performance with a strong focus upon continuous service improvement.
  • Promote, develop and demonstrate good working relationships and compassionate leadership with all levels of staff, supporting high performance and standards of donor care and donor/ recipient safety through cohesive and effective team working.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse on Part 1 (Adult) of the live NMC register.
  • Have 5 year’s post-registration experience which must include a minimum of 2 years at Band 6.
  • Previous experience working in a blood establishment and associated knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and MHRA licencing requirements.
  • Hold a teaching and assessing qualification or willing to undertake Level 3 Diploma in Education and Training, within 4-6 months of appointment.
  • Evidence of post registration education with a commitment to ongoing continuous learning and application in practice.
  • Post registration experience of leading/managing a team.
  • Experience in performance management and committed to meeting operational and clinical objectives.
  • Experience of working as a change agent or instrumental in implementing changes to development and training programmes.
  • A current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criterion will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved.
