Job description
Responsibilities
  • Support the global network across various disciplines and become subject matter expert for one or more areas within the network including LAN/WAN/Wireless/Security/VOIP.
  • Work with global IT teams and management, supporting the network across the full project life cycle including proof of concept, design, procurement of Network hardware/WAN, configuration, installation, testing, documentation, and ongoing monitoring/support.
  • Manage NAC/Segmentation Forescout environment.
  • Manage and maintain the company firewalls and IPS systems with focus on alerts and vulnerability management.
  • Capable of working and integrating with other teams to identify specific vulnerabilities and mitigate any threats.
  • Work with InfoSec team on identifying threats from SIEM and other logs gathered across all IT infrastructure and recommend improvements as and when necessary.
  • Implement system changes for security and compliance as defined by compliance and security teams.
  • Work with Compliance and Audit team as required on behalf of Networks team.
  • 2nd /3rd level support to production support and branch office IT personnel on network related issues.
  • Perform system upgrades; install OS, maintenance releases, critical fixes, and service packs; assist with application upgrades, installations and systems monitoring.
  • Works with members of other IT groups, peers, and management to solve systems related issues for internal and external customers.
  • Define, create, and deliver documentation - hardware/software configurations, change control, downtime/availability, problem/resolution, procedures, resource usage.
  • Provide 3rd level Network support for sites and DCs across various networking disciplines; this includes the two primary datacenters located in Ireland and Germany.
  • Manage and maintain network tools and proactively monitor and troubleshoot the network.
  • Actively participate, enforce, and follow DP World's Change, Incident, and Problem management processes.
  • Willingness to devise creative solutions to solve complex problems and issues.
  • Perform consistently and contributes beyond the assigned tasks.
  • Attend CAB calls and present all changes and respond if challenged to any RFC.
  • Dedicate themselves to learn and improve upon the existing methods of carrying out Network Engineer functions.
  • Work with their team and internal and external customers in a professional manner at all times.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong Cisco switching and wireless skills and experience in large deployments.
  • Experience and knowledge of routing, SD WAN, firewall, VOIP, network application tools, automation, and cloud migration.
  • Experience in Checkpoint Firewalls design, configuration, installation and management.
  • Proven experience installing and configuring networks for 5+ years.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise under pressure.
  • Experience installing, configuring, customizing and supporting enterprise applications such as switches, routers, access points, firewalls.
  • Strong time management, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Previous experience following change management and change control processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working on and away from site with a firm understanding of Pan European cultures.
  • Experience working both independently and as part of a team.
  • Checkpoint Firewall certified.
  • Working on Velocloud SDWAN would also be a plus but not essential.
  • Strong Cisco knowledge of routing and switching and including wireless infrastructure.
  • 5+ years of experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting networks across various disciplines, this also includes site surveys and procurement of network hardware.
