Job description
Network Engineer DV Eligible

Location: Basingstoke (5 days on-site)

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Network Engineer to join a specialist team supporting a high-level government customer. This is a hands‑on, technically challenging position where you will play a crucial role in maintaining the resilience, security, and performance of a complex cloud and network infrastructure. If you thrive in a secure, fast‑paced environment and enjoy solving intricate technical issues, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

In this position, you will act as a key escalation point for 2nd Line support, using ITSM tooling to manage incidents and changes effectively. You will be responsible for maintaining and updating PKI certificates across virtual and physical network devices, rolling out firmware, software, and security updates, and ensuring all network hardware remains fully supported and compliant. You will work closely with network design and engineering teams to enhance services, support both physical and virtual network solutions, and assess new releases before they are introduced into live environments.

You will also take ownership of maintaining accurate technical documentation, including patching schedules, work instructions, and configuration details. Monitoring, triage, and incident resolution will form a key part of your day‑to‑day responsibilities, utilising tools such as SolarWinds and event management platforms.

To succeed, you should have strong experience across technologies such as Cisco IOS/NXOS/FXOS, Juniper JUNOS, Cisco ISE, Broadcom NSX‑T or SD‑WAN and ITSM systems.

DV Eligibility (sole UK national) is essential, along with excellent communication skills, a proactive approach, and a strong attention to detail.
