Job description

Main Purpose of Role

Safer Roads for Nottinghamshire provide Driver Improvement / Speed Awareness Courses on behalf of the National Driver Offender Re‑Education Scheme (NDORS) run by the UK Road Offender Education (UKROEd) governing body.

The courses are offered by Police Forces as an alternative to prosecution to eligible drivers and courses have been proven to be effective at long term driver behavioural change, with practically 100% of our clients giving positive feedback at the end of courses. We offer both classroom‑based courses at a number of local locations as well as on‑line courses so as to offer the widest variety of venues to clients.

Offering Driver Improvement and Speed Awareness Courses as a course provider demonstrates Nottinghamshire Police’s commitment to Road Safety through trying to reduce those who are killed and seriously injured on our roads and stop the very human tragedy that occurs from such collisions.

The post holder is pivotal in the successful delivery of courses through assisting clients booking courses over the telephone, assisting clients who are struggling to attend a course, or struggling to log onto an on‑line course. The post holder will require excellent communication skills, and the ability to be flexible and make decisions and use their own initiative to assist clients and liaise with trainers to maximise the clients experience. The post holder will also be required to be prepared to work from home or other locations as part of the departments business continuity plan if their base location becomes unusable.

The post holder will utilise several IT systems, and this will include taking payment over the phone for courses and entering details correctly into the systems, thus a keen eye for detail is also required.
