Electrical & Mechanical Building Services Technician

Permanent | Hatfield | £45,000 - £47,000

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrical & Mechanical Building Services Technician to join our Estates Engineering team. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliable and compliant operation of estate-wide services and equipment across a large, multi‑functional facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high standards of mechanical and electrical services throughout the facility.
  • Plan and undertake routine scheduled maintenance of plant and equipment with minimal disruption to operations.
  • Participate in on‑call rota (1 in 6), including weekend and bank holiday site checks.
  • Work staggered shifts: Week 1: 07:30 – 16:00. Week 2: 09:30 – 18:00
Essential Qualifications & Skills
  • Qualification in either: Electrical engineering (BS7671 & C&G 2391) or Mechanical engineering (full‑term apprenticeship)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Multi‑skilled in electrical and mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with domestic and low‑temperature hot water systems (LTHW).
  • Motor controls and relay logic.
  • AHUs, FCUs, and chilled water systems.
  • Good awareness of Health & Safety and safe systems of work.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Flexible to work outside standard hours when required.
  • Competent in using Windows‑based systems and CMMS/BMS platforms.
Desirable
  • ONC/HNC qualification.
  • Experience in controlled environments.
  • Knowledge of water systems and water treatment.
