Job description

The MSK Physiotherapy service provides outpatient MSK services across Kent. We operate within four teams covering North Kent, Ashford, Canterbury and Thanet, South Kent Coast and West Kent.

We provide musculoskeletal outpatient physiotherapy to the local population working in community hospital physiotherapy departments and outreach clinics. We run a hybrid model of face‑to‑face and virtual consultations.

You will provide comprehensive musculoskeletal assessment and treatment of outpatients.

Work Locations
  • West Kent team working between Churchill Centre (Aylesford), Sevenoaks Hospital and Tonbridge Cottage Hospital
  • North Kent team working between Gravesham Community Hospital and Sheppey Community Hospital; may also be required to work at one of the West Kent sites.

The base location will be agreed at interview and the post holder will be expected to work across sites in their respective teams and sometimes travel throughout Kent for training and to help meet service demands.

Job responsibilities

A Band 5 Health Care Professional (HCP) will manage their own caseload of patients under the supervision of a senior physiotherapist. Main responsibilities include:

  • Managing a clinical caseload of musculoskeletal patients as an autonomous practitioner both virtually and face‑to‑face.
  • Developing and maintaining a high level of skill and knowledge in all areas of clinical practice, supported by your clinical supervisor and a structured capability framework.
  • Working independently, proactively, and under pressure with a positive and welcoming disposition towards patients and staff.
  • Consolidating and building on your skills with regular in‑service training, clinical supervision and allocated personal CPD time; participating in Trust‑wide Clinical Special Interest Groups and an established appraisal system.
  • Traveling across trust sites as required for training and to meet service demands.
  • Maintaining flexibility, embracing change and innovation, and working well both autonomously and as part of a team.

Although full‑time hours are preferred, part‑time hours may be considered for the right candidate at a minimum of 30 hours over 4 days.

This role is open to both current registered physiotherapists and students.
