Are you seeking a new challenge? Do you have experience of successfully managing a mobile Plant, LCV and HGV fleet?Would you like the opportunity to optimise fleet management in a market leading construction materials business?

We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Plant and Transport Manager to join our friendly team based out of our Tarmac Agecroft Contracting site in Salford covering the North West and Yorkshire area. This key role will provide effective management of the area's Plant and Transport team, supporting across the wider region as needed. This is a mobile role so you may be based in Bolton, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Ashton-under-Lyne, Warrington, Wigan, St Helens, Chorley, Leeds, Bradford, Manchester or any of the surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Regional Plant and Transport Manager the Mobile Plant and Transport Manager will manage a mobile Plant, LCV and HGV fleet to ensure compliance with legislation and regulations to enable us to provide an industry leading service.

The role of Mobile Plant and Transport Manager will also be responsible for:

  • Ensuring the region has an appropriate fleet of vehicles and mobile Plant equipment which meets the business operational and logistical requirements
  • Identifying and implementing best practice to optimise fleet management and measure the financial and environmental impact
  • Providing continuous and effective control of area transport operations (to ensure compliance with Operator's licence requirements, Working Time Directive, EU Driver Rules and Regulations, GB Domestic and all other appropriate legislative requirements)
  • Managing the mobile Plant and vehicle fleet budget
  • Managing the internal and external maintenance team and workshop to optimise workload and ensure compliance
  • Ensuring all vehicles and mobile Plant across the region are maintained and serviced in line with regulation and guidelines
  • Developing maintenance team, understanding skills gaps and talent pipeline to deliver future business needs
  • Collaborating with the Operations team to ensure all business needs are successfully delivered
The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Mobile Plant and Transport Manager will possess Transport Management experience preferably managing mobile Plant, LCV and HGV fleet services including Fitters and Drivers.

Suitable candidates for the role of Mobile Plant and Transport Manager will also have:

  • Experience in statutory inspections of workshop, buildings and equipment
  • Successfully managed a small team (including Fitters and Drivers)
  • Certificate of Professional Competence in Road Haulage Operations (CPC)
  • Proactive approach to compliance and QA requirements
  • Continuous improvement mindsetAptitude for thinking and problem solving
  • Ability to effectively engage with all stakeholders
  • Confidence and drive to succeed
  • NEBOSH and/or IOSH Certification
  • Competent IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • CSCS or CPCS (preferred but not essential)
