Job summary

A growing recruitment firm is seeking a Field Service Engineer – Mobile Fleet Technician based in Walsall. The role involves traveling to customer sites for maintenance and repairs, with responsibilities including callouts, emergency breakdowns, and servicing. Ideal candidates will be self-motivated HGV Vehicle Engineers with a good knowledge of various types of vehicles including HGVs. Flexible working hours and benefits include 25 annual leave days and healthcare scheme eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Conduct callouts and preventative maintenance.
  • Handle emergency breakdowns and pre-arranged servicing at rural sites.
  • Perform MOT preparation and diagnostic investigations.

Field Service Engineer – Mobile Fleet Technician

Day shifts – 07.00‑16.30, 45 hour week – Flexible working hours

Are you ready to go on the road and take your technical skills to a dedicated network of customer sites?

If you have experience working on a mobile basis, perhaps in agricultural or material handling equipment, we would like to speak with you.

Responsibilities
  • Callouts
  • Preventative Maintenance
  • Emergency Breakdowns
  • Pre‑arranged servicing at rural sites
  • MOT Preparation
  • Engine work and diagnostic investigations
  • Correction of running defects
  • Chassis and fabrication work
  • Hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Improvement of vehicle standards
  • Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections
Qualifications & Experience
  • Self‑motivated and independent HGV Vehicle Engineer
  • Experience travelling to client workshops within a designated area
  • Excellent understanding of vehicle technology; able to follow the repair process from fault analysis to completion
  • Class 2 licence is beneficial
  • Good knowledge of HGVs, gritters, refuse collection vehicles, sweepers, flatbeds and cherry pickers
  • Ability to work on electric and hydrogen vehicles and keep up to date with new products and repair techniques
