Job description
Overview

Thames Water is looking for a Meter Data Quality Analyst to join our Smart Metering Operations Centre (SMOC) team. We are rolling out hundreds of thousands of smart meters, generating millions of lines of data that provide vital insights into water consumption. This data helps our customers manage their water use more effectively, while supporting our ambition to make every drop count. To achieve this, we need skilled people who can manage, validate, and analyse data to unlock its full potential.

What you will be doing

This is a varied and impactful role within the Smart Metering Operations Centre. Your work will ensure Thames Water gains maximum value from its smart metering investment by minimising errors and delivering accurate, reliable reporting. You will work across two main areas to ensure meter data integrity across multiple business units and IT systems:

  1. Monitoring data quality, preventing errors, and resolving existing issues across IT systems to ensure information is consistent, accurate, and actionable.
  2. Validating the asset health of our meter stock, from purchase to disposal, including modelling asset life, supporting meter accuracy studies, contributing to the Returns Material Authorisation (RMA) process, and developing robust asset standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the reporting activities on key metering parameters.
  • Improve existing reporting functionality to provide better access for users and ensure business continuity.
  • Monitor failures of meters and equipment as part of the Returns Materials Analysis (RMA) process.
  • Help analyse, create and present data insight to support related meter under-registration and leakage analysis.
  • Provide knowledge, help, feedback and training to other teams on meter assets.
What you should bring to the role

To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:

  • Able to analyse data, turn it into clear insights, and present recommendations to stakeholders to support decision-making.
  • Understanding of databases, interfaces, and business systems.
  • Ability to present and influence other teams to ensure process improvements.
  • Organisational skills and willingness to own, document and improve business processes.
  • Capacity to become a subject matter expert on water meter assets.
  • Experience in Advanced Excel, SharePoint, working knowledge of SQL, working knowledge of Power BI and Salesforce. Knowledge of meter asset technology would be beneficial but not essential.

Base Location: Hybrid - Langley Bus Park - Slough, Berks
Hours: 36 hours per week

What’s in it for you?
  • Competitive starting salary of £43,000 and up to £45,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
  • Annual leave: 26 days holiday per year, increasing to 30 days with the length of service (plus bank holidays).
  • Performance-related pay plan directly linked to both company and individual performance measures and targets.
  • Generous Pension Scheme through AON.
  • Access to benefits for health and well-being and finances, including annual health MOTs, physiotherapy and counselling, Cycle to Work schemes, shopping vouchers and life assurance.
