Mental Health & Wellbeing Teaching Assistant

Location: Corby, Northamptonshire

Agency: Tradewind Recruitment

Contract: Full-time / Part-time | Term-time only

Pay: £90 - £95 per day

Start Date: ASAP

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a Mental Health & Wellbeing Teaching Assistant with a background in mental health, psychology, counselling, or wellbeing support to work in a supportive school setting in the Corby area. This role is well suited to individuals looking to apply their mental health experience within an educational environment.

The Role

You will support pupils who present with a range of mental health and emotional needs, including anxiety, trauma, low mood, and emotional regulation difficulties. Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff, you will provide 1:1 and small-group interventions focused on wellbeing, resilience, and engagement with learning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Delivering targeted mental health and wellbeing support to pupils
  • Supporting emotional regulation, coping strategies, and resilience-building
  • Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
  • Using trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches where appropriate
  • Creating a safe, calm, and nurturing environment to support pupils' mental health
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • A background in mental health, psychology, counselling, youth work, or mental health education
  • Experience supporting children or young people with emotional or mental health needs
  • A calm, empathetic, and reflective approach
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
