What you’ll do (Responsibilities)
  1. Provide clients with low intensity psychological interventions aligned to cognitive-behavioural principles, including behavioural activation; graded exposure; teaching problem solving skills; recognising and managing emotions; improving sleep; self help for bulimia and binge eating; building confidence.
  2. Assess the client\'s suitability for these interventions.
  3. Risk assess and plan care collaboratively with service users.
  4. Set collaborative goals for intervention with service users.
  5. Implement pre and post outcome measures with service users.
  6. Form professional relationships and relate to service users in a way that respects their views, autonomy and culture.
  7. Engage calmly and with sensitivity and empathy to support service users in highly distressing or emotional circumstances.
  8. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.
  9. When appropriate, take on the role of key worker for the client when work is being completed.
  10. Regularly attend clinical supervision with a qualified psychology professional.
  11. Work alongside service users, families, carers and multi-disciplinary team members to coordinate care, supporting collaborative decision-making about care and treatment.
  12. Exercise good personal time management, punctuality, reliable attendance and good organisational skills.
Qualifications / Experience

Experience of delivering psychological CBT informed work to those with severe and enduring mental health problems; experience of working well within a multidisciplinary NHS Team; experience of delivering goal focused, short-term, time-limited work; experience of promoting wellbeing and social inclusion; excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusting and productive relationships with colleagues and service users; a good understanding of mental health issues and formulating around thinking psychologically around these; strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to tailor them to a variety of audiences; the ability to work independently and think quickly in often challenging situations; the creativity to solve problems and tackle obstacles in new ways; effective time management skills to juggle competing demands in a busy and sometimes pressured work environment.

  • Essential: Experience of working within an NHS Multidisciplinary team
  • Desirable: Current registration with BPS or BABCP
