Job description

Responsibilities

• Work within a multi‑disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
• Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
• Assess patients' health needs using an evidence‑based framework and risk assess using sound clinical knowledge
• Work with individuals providing advice, support and information and manage a case load of patients
• Deliver non‑judgemental care that makes a real difference
• Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required
• Inspire excellence by forging strong links with partners and stakeholders
• Promote best practice, clinical supervision and evidence‑based care
• Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care and build strong multi‑disciplinary teams, supporting each other to do a great job

Qualifications

• Qualified Mental Health Nurse with NMC registration

• Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work and awareness of substance misuse
• Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment (ideal but not essential)

Location & Environment

HMP Leicester is a local prison holding men who are on remand as well as sentenced. It has an operational capacity of around 400. The prison is located in the City Centre and is a 15‑minute walk from the station.
