A local healthcare provider in Newport seeks a motivated Medical Secretary to provide administrative support to clinical staff. Responsibilities include managing correspondence, typing referrals, and maintaining patient records. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join oursmall team of busy friendly secretaries at Linden Hall Surgery. As a medical secretary, you will display ahigh level of motivation and enthusiasm to provide administrative support tothe Partners and clinical staff of Linden Hall Surgery.
This position would suit a Medical Secretarywith experience, but training can be provided.
The secretarial team lead the referrals work, manage the incoming paper and digital correspondence from hospitals and specialists, and write outgoing letters and referrals for our GPs and clinicians.
Audio- and copy- typing, NHS email, EMIS system and Accurx are used daily and other web based referral systems.
Requests from external bodies and patients for medical records using iGPR
There is frequent telephone contact with patients and specialist hospital departments to answer queries, and update referral status.
As well as medical secretary work, the role involves managing post, filing and retrieving notes, photocopying and other administrative duties.
We are a busy Surgery covering a population of about 15,500 patients.
Interviews will be conducted at Linden Hall Surgery
27hrs per week, working days can be negotiated, but preferable two days to include Thursdays and Fridays
Key responsibilities include:
Manage the incoming paper and digital correspondence from hospitals and specialists.
Audio- and copy- typing, NHS email and ICG system to write outgoing letters and referrals for our GPs and clinicians.
Telephone contact with patients and specialist hospital departments to answer queries, and update referral status.
Managing post incoming and outgoing paper post.
Supporting queries from the Practice team, working closely with GPs.
Filing and retrieving medical notes.
Photocopying.
Ordering and monitoring stationary stocks and supplies.
