Overview

Are you an organised, motivated individual with excellent communication skills looking to make a difference in patient care? We have an exciting opportunity for a Medical Secretary to join our dedicated Colorectal team at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our administrative workforce, you will provide high-quality secretarial and administrative support to our colorectal consultants and clinical team, ensuring that patients receive a seamless and professional service.

This is a rewarding role where you will use your strong organisational and interpersonal skills to support patient care, working at the heart of a busy and friendly department. We are looking for someone who is:

Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive secretarial support to colorectal consultants and the wider team. Manage clinical correspondence, reports, and patient records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Act as the first point of contact for patients, relatives, and external organisations, ensuring queries are handled professionally and compassionately.
  • Organise outpatient clinics, appointments, and follow-ups, ensuring patients are seen in a timely manner.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Trust to ensure a smooth patient pathway.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Confident with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
  • Proficient in IT systems, with strong typing skills and attention to detail.
  • Compassionate, patient-focused, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Previous medical secretarial or administrative experience in healthcare is desirable, but training and support will be provided.
