A healthcare practice in Kidderminster seeks a dedicated part-time Medical Secretary. The role involves providing a high-quality typing service for GPs, managing clinical correspondence, and performing various administrative duties. Northumberland House Surgery,Kidderminster, Worcestershire require a part time Medical Secretary, to workwith our existing secretary over Monday-Friday.
We are looking for awell-motivated, dedicated resilient hard working individual, committed to teamworking with excellent communication skills and knowledge of medicalterminology. In addition to secretarialduties the successful applicant will also work in our clinical correspondenceteam assisting in the management of incoming clinical correspondence.
Applicants should be able todemonstrate excellent communication skills, be people focused, and able tomulti-task and willing to work across a range of administrative and secretarialduties.
Prior NHS experience is essentialto undertake this important role.
We are a friendly innovative, 4 partner practice based in purpose-built premises adjacent to Kidderminster Treatment Centre with a list size of 13900 patients.
Principal Duties andResponsibilities
To provide an efficient audio, copy typing andword processing service for GPs and health professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports,patient referrals, minutes, memorandums etc in an accurate and quality manner.
To assist the Practice Manager and Partners withall clerical and administrative duties as requested.
To liaise with all hospitals and local CCGs
File patient records and correspondence inpatient medical records as and when required.
To receive incoming and initiate outgoingtelephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communicationswith others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
To maintain the computer clinic system in anaccurate and secure manner.
To assist with the gathering of statistics andinformation when required.
To provide cover for members of the secretarialteam during periods of sickness and annual leave.
To receive and dispatch mail and maintain apending system as necessary.
To refer patients via the ERS as and wheninstructed.
To read code and perform summarising of patientrecords as required, as part of the Admin Team.
Any other duties deemed necessary for the postof medical secretary

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintainingtheir own and others health, safety and security as defined in the practiceHealth & Safety policy, the practice Health & Safety manual and thepractice Infection Control policy and published procedures. This will include:
Using personal security systems within theworkplace according to practice guidelines
Identifying the risks involved in workactivities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
Making effective use of training to updateknowledge and skills
Using appropriate infection control procedures,maintaining work areas in a tidy and safe way and free from hazards
Actively reporting of health and safety hazardsand infection hazards immediately when recognised
Keeping own work areas and general/patient areasgenerally clean, assisting in the maintenance of general standards ofcleanliness consistent with the scope of the job holders role
Undertaking periodic infection control training minimum annually
