Job description

Our client is currently looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join their team in Lincolnshire. The role involves overseeing the delivery of heating-related works, including the installation of Air Source Heat Pumps, across social housing properties throughout the region. This is a permanent, full-time position working 40 hours per week, offering a competitive salary and an attractive benefits package.

Role Summary

The Mechanical Supervisor will take responsibility for managing mechanical activities on site, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with agreed programmes, budgets, and quality standards. The position covers the supervision of mechanical services such as heating, HVAC, plumbing, and associated pipework, including installation, testing, and commissioning. Acting as the main point of contact for mechanical works, the role requires close collaboration with site teams, subcontractors, and management to ensure full compliance with company procedures, industry regulations, and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee all mechanical works on site, ensuring compliance with technical drawings, specifications, and health and safety legislation.
  • Organise and distribute work among mechanical operatives and subcontractors, monitoring performance and addressing any challenges that may affect progress.
  • Inspect completed works to ensure installations meet quality standards and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, and other trade leads to ensure smooth delivery of multi-discipline activities.
  • Support commissioning activities and ensure all relevant documentation, including testing and handover records, is accurately completed.
  • Proactively identify design discrepancies or technical issues and communicate them to the relevant engineering teams.
  • Ensure all activities are delivered in line with approved method statements, risk assessments, and permit systems.
  • Provide on-site leadership, coaching, and support to apprentices and junior operatives.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture, ensuring adherence to all HSEQ policies and procedures.

Candidate Requirements
Essential Criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing and Heating or an equivalent qualification
  • Previous experience supervising mechanical works within construction or building services
  • In-depth knowledge of heating systems
  • Strong awareness of health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Desirable Experience and Qualifications
  • CSCS card at Supervisor or Manager level
  • Gas Safe registration
  • Experience working in social housing, public sector, or large commercial environments
  • First Aid at Work qualification
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification
  • Familiarity with digital site management platforms such as Field View or Viewpoint
