Job summary

A leading engineering consultancy in Glasgow is seeking a qualified Mechanical Engineer to design and specify Building Services systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in a design consultancy environment, possess strong mechanical design knowledge, and demonstrate excellent report writing skills. This role offers hybrid working, 28 days holiday plus Christmas shutdown, and additional benefits including a yearly bonus and competitive pension.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.

• Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure understanding of project briefs and specification of Mechanical Building Services systems.
• Prepare and review documentation including designs and specifications.
• Conduct site surveys and monitor site works.
• Assist with the development of junior engineers.

Role

• Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
• Experience working in a design consultancy or a similar environment.
• Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment.
• Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
• Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
• Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools such as Microscoft packages, CAD

Qualifications / Experience

• Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems.
• Preparation and review of documentation eg designs, specifications, assessment reports, survey reports.
• Carry out the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, CAD, in house developed tools tec,
• Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works
• Implementation of detailed surveys of mechanical services and equipment to establish status of the existing installations and gain sufficient information to recommend new/upgrade design proposal
• Assisting with the development of junior engineers
• Report and technical note writing
