Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Mechanical Fitter in Glasgow. You will maintain and repair a range of material handling equipment including forklifts and pallet trucks. The right candidate will have proven experience and strong mechanical knowledge. This role offers a full-time, permanent position with a pay range of £18 – £21 per hour.

Qualifications

  • Experience with material handling equipment or plant equipment.
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge.
  • Full UK driving license preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on rental equipment.
  • Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance.
  • Conduct safety checks and inspections.

As a Mechanical Fitter, you’ll be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a wide range of material handling equipment including forklifts, telehandlers, pallet trucks, and more. You’ll work both in our workshop and occasionally on-site, ensuring our fleet remains in peak condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults on rental equipment
  • Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance
  • Conduct safety checks and inspections
  • Maintain accurate service records
  • Collaborate with the workshop team to meet deadlines and customer expectations

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience as a mechanical fitter, ideally in material handling or plant equipment
  • Strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
  • Relevant qualifications (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent) desirable
