Job summary

An equipment servicing company in Devon and Torbay is seeking a Breakdown Engineer responsible for responding to garage equipment breakdowns, diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, and ensuring customer workshops are operational. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and experience with emission and brake testing equipment. Excellent communication skills are essential as you will provide updates to customers. This role offers an opportunity to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience with emission & brake testing equipment.
  • Electronics knowledge or experience working with electrically controlled systems.
  • Previous experience in field service or garage equipment engineering.

Responsibilities

Job description

This is a mechanically orientated role where you will be responsible for responding to garage equipment breakdowns, diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, and ensuring customer workshops remain compliant, safe, and fully operational.

The Role

As a Breakdown Engineer, you will:

  • Respond to workshop garage equipment breakdowns at customer sites.

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues with a range of equipment.

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and calibration of garage equipment to industry standards.

  • Ensure all work is completed in line with safety regulations and company processes.

  • Provide clear communication and updates to customers to manage expectations.

  • Complete accurate service reports and compliance documentation.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Strong mechanical background (hydraulics, pneumatics, or similar).

  • Experience with emission & brake testing equipment.
