Job description
Mechanical Engineer – Permanent

Start date: Subject to clearance / ASAP. Salary: £37,000 – £45,000 per annum + Car Allowance + Expenses paid on site. Location: Heysham / Remote Working. Hours of work: 37 hours per week, with 3 days per month required on site.

The main purpose of the role is to provide project and technical services supporting all aspects of the Company’s business and fulfilling specific contracts, including control of costs, programme and manpower to meet contract requirements. You will provide internal engineering and technical support to all departments within the company.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively and work collaboratively with internal teams and external clients.
  • Carry out projects and tasks as allocated where SQEP.
  • Provide support and technical assistance where SQEP.
  • Assist in workload forecasting and manpower planning.
  • Ensure the scope of projects is delivered on time and on budget whilst maintaining a focus on quality.
  • Author and verify technical reports for both internal and external purposes.
  • Produce technical proposals in support of contracts and tenders.
  • Review existing applications and recommend technical improvements.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Management Systems.
  • Assist less experienced colleagues in ensuring compliance with pre-defined standards.
  • Liaise with suppliers, clients and regulators.
  • Lead projects with increased complexity and scope.
  • Verify systems, study and recommend techniques to improve and/or cost reduce existing products/processes.
  • Create specifications, associated drawings, and procedural specifications to provide required technical information.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 3–5 years of hands‑on proven experience.
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally with both technical and non‑technical teams.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated industries.
  • Experience managing multiple parallel projects.
  • Experience with regulatory processes in operational process plant and construction sites.
  • Excellent written communication skills and ability to produce technical reports to a high standard.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Eligible to obtain Security Clearance or already hold Security Clearance.
