We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical & Electrical Technician to join our Waste Operations team at Farnham STW.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical plant and associated electrical equipment in a safe, efficient, timely and effective manner with minimum supervision to keep sites operational.
- Ensure health, safety and wellbeing of yourself, colleagues, contractors and visitors by complying with Health & Safety at Work regulations and Thames Water guidelines.
- Undertake reactive and planned maintenance, respond to alarms and faults, identify issues, fix or escalate as needed; install new plant and equipment in line with current standards and regulations.
- Record work and asset information to improve business performance; identify risks and recommend changes for resolution in day-to-day work.
- Provide specialist technical advice with up-to-date knowledge and contribute to coaching, training and development of staff, including the apprenticeship programme.
- Deliver excellent customer experience and contribute to overall customer satisfaction; interact with internal and external customers in a timely, professional, efficient, respectful and polite manner.
Location and Working Pattern
Base location: Farnham STW – Monkton Lane, GU9 9ND.
Working pattern: 38 hours, Monday to Friday, 7:30–3:36. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities may increase earnings.
Requirements
- Time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical & electrical systems; or NVQ/C&G Level 3 in mechanical & electrical engineering.
- Ideally upskilled with a mechanical qualification to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair mechanical and electrical plant safely and efficiently.
- For those with mechanical or electrical experience only, development toward dual-skilled status will be considered.
- Knowledge and awareness of health & safety issues are crucial.
- Physical fitness for working in confined spaces, with completion of appropriate training.
- Valid driving licence is essential; vehicle and tools are provided.
