Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Near Blandford Forum, Dorset

Salary: Highly Competitive + Hybrid + Flextime + Benefits

Great opportunity to join a leading company within its field. You will manage projects from concept to completion using SolidEdge.

The Role:

1. Manage mechanical design projects within cost constraints.
2. Design probing & handling mechanisms for test fixtures & custom engineering solutions.
3. Liaise with customers on projects and their mechanical requirements.
4. Develop detailed designs to customer specifications, implementing changes if necessary.
5. Work as part of a project team with engineers from other disciplines.
6. Produce drawings to BS8888 for manufacture & general assembly.
7. Sourcing components & producing accurate parts lists.
8. Carry out factory acceptance tests (and site acceptance tests when required).
9. Integrate mechanical assemblies into complete systems.
10. Work within ISO procedures (controlled documentation & change control management).

The Candidate:

• Minimum 2 years experience within design.
• Ideally experience in the Test & Measurement industry.
• Familiarity with machined components and assembly techniques.
• Experience with 3D drawing packages, SolidEdge preferred but SolidWorks or Inventor also acceptable.
• Ownership of design from concept to completion.
• Good analytical skills.
• Ability to work within tight deadlines.
