Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical product design supporting medium-to-high volume manufacturing.
• Proficiency in using 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work autonomously or within teams.

Responsibilities

• Design new mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD.
• Create engineering drawings to BS8888 and ISO standards.
• Support prototype builds, testing, and validation of mechanical performance.
• Perform tolerance analysis and apply Design for Manufacture principles.
• Support production with documentation and updates.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with teams and suppliers for innovative solutions.

Circa £30,000 - £40,000, depending on experience

Full-time, permanent position

Monday to Thursday: 08:30-17:00, early finish on Fridays

What You'll Be Doing:

• Designing new mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
• Creating engineering drawings in line with BS8888 and ISO standards
• Supporting prototype builds, testing, and validation of mechanical performance
• Performing tolerance analysis and applying Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles
• Supporting production through documentation, updates, and engineering changes
• Participating in continuous improvement initiatives across tools, processes, and quality
• Collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to deliver innovative solutions

What We're Looking For:

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline)
• Some experience in mechanical product design, ideally supporting medium-to-high volume manufacturing
• Proficiency in 3D CAD - SolidWorks preferred
• Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing techniques
• Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or within a team
