Job description

Mechanical Design Engineer, Oxford, GBP40,000 - GBP50,000pa plus Exceptional Benefits:

Our client is a market leader in the development of state-of-the-art scientific instrumentation. Due to a successful period of growth and doubling in size, they are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to research, design, develop, and evaluate products used worldwide. The company offers a unique every-other-week, 4-day condensed workweek.

The Role:

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be highly competent and motivated, capable of devising competitive solutions to meet challenging equipment requirements within the scientific and research community. They will also be responsible for validating design proposals through rigorous analysis and effective testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Mechanical concept design of high stability systems, involving high precision movements and control feedback.
  2. Interpreting customer requirements and translating them into cost-effective and elegant solutions.
  3. Defining requirements clearly and concisely for implementation by the product design teams.
  4. Collaborating with Controls Engineers to develop precision motion controls and feedback systems.
  5. Communicating with customers and assisting in developing solutions that exceed their expectations.
  6. Maintaining flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities and requirements.
  7. Participating in design and product review processes.
  8. Experience with bid proposals.
  9. Providing backup calculations and analyses for proposed design solutions.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. BSc or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Extensive experience with 3D modelling and design.
  3. Project management skills, including project costs, risk analysis, planning, and expediting.
