Job summary

A leading engineering firm is seeking a Mechanical and Process Engineer for a permanent position in Capenhurst. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and possess experience in process design. Responsibilities include producing high-quality deliverables, writing specifications, and supporting technical change processes. Qualifications

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience in process or chemical engineering design.
  • Knowledge of process modelling and simulation tools such as MATLAB or Simulink.
  • Experience within the nuclear sector or another large process industry.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good general IT skills.
  • Ability to explain and justify technical decisions clearly.
  • French or German language skills would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Producing high‑quality process design and analysis deliverables.
  • Writing technical reports and specifications for process system equipment.
  • Developing and substantiating technical solutions, including calculations and design basis.
  • Analysing plant, commissioning and test data to model and predict equipment performance.
  • Supporting design reviews, ISA/HAZOP meetings and technical change processes.
  • Maintaining specialist knowledge of current process system designs and performance.
  • Supporting project proposals, including schedules and cost forecasts.
  • Managing technical deliverables and providing clear progress reporting.

What will you be doing?
  • Producing high‑quality process design and analysis deliverables

  • Managing technical deliverables and providing clear progress reportingWorking with internal and external stakeholders, including European suppliers
Where will you be doing it?

You’ll be based in Cheshire within a Technical Services environment, supporting complex engineering projects through robust process design, analysis and technical assurance in a highly regulated setting.

  • A degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Experience in process or chemical engineering design
  • Knowledge of process modelling and simulation tools such as MATLAB or Simulink
  • Experience within the nuclear sector or another large process industry
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good general IT skills
  • Ability to explain and justify technical decisions clearly
  • French or German language skills would be an advantage
