Are you an experienced Automotive Technician looking for a new challenge? Pilbara Motor Group, trading as Perth Motor Bodies, is looking for a skilled Bus 4x4 Technician to join our team at our new, state‑of‑the‑art premises in Welshpool. This is a unique opportunity to work on exciting projects, converting Toyota buses (HiAce & Coaster) to 4WD, and working on a variety of mechanical and electrical components.

About Us

Pilbara Motor Group started as a small dealership in Port Hedland over 22 years ago and has since grown into a multi‑location operation, proudly serving the Pilbara region with 12 locations and offering the best automotive brands, including Toyota, Nissan, and Isuzu Ute. We employ over 200 dedicated people in the region, all of whom share our commitment to excellence.

Our Perth Motor Bodies division in Welshpool supports these dealerships and is responsible for a wide range of services including vehicle fit‑outs, fabrication, painting, and more. We pride ourselves on delivering high‑quality 4WD conversions and automotive services.

The Role

As a Bus 4x4 Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in converting Toyota buses to 4WD, along with a variety of other mechanical and electrical tasks. You’ll work in a modern workshop environment, where no two days are the same, and contribute to building the 4WDs that our customers love.

Key Responsibilities
  • Convert Buses to 4WD: Specialize in converting HiAce and Coaster buses to 4WD, ensuring high‑quality standards and a perfect fit.
  • Accessory Fitting: Fit and install bull bars, tow bars, snorkels, suspensions, fuel tanks, and more to enhance vehicle functionality and safety.
  • Tyre & Wheel Work: Perform tyre fitting and wheel alignments, ensuring vehicles are road‑ready.
  • Mechanical & Electrical Work: Install and replace mechanical components and electrical systems (automotive electrical experience is a plus, but not essential).
  • Pre-Delivery Inspections: Conduct thorough pre‑delivery inspections of new vehicles to ensure everything is in top working condition before delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous 4WD accessory fitting experience is essential.
  • Automotive Trade Certificate required.
  • Automotive electrical experience is advantageous but not necessary (training can be provided for the right candidate).
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and attention to detail.
  • Able to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Must have own hand tools (tool list will be supplied).
