Overview

Are you passionate about education and committed to helping learners unlock their full potential? Are you skilled in Functional Skills (Maths) with a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of those you teach? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Lancaster Farms, as a Functional Skills Maths Teacher. This position is offered on a permanent part-time basis, working 18.5 hours per week.

The role is covering entry to level 1 which will be delivered in the afternoons. Unfortunately, the time is not negotiable. The working pattern will be Mon - Thurs PM and an AM of their choice. The candidate may be asked to cover other Functional Skills sessions from time to time.

Site Information

HMP Lancaster Farms is located on the outskirts of Lancaster. The prison is a Category C Male Prison and offers a diverse range of education opportunities and employment support opportunities in industrial cleaning, physical education, gardening among others. The team's aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times. The prison"s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)/ Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or commit to work towards within a specified timeframe (Applies to Teachers in YOI only)
  • Creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
  • Achievement of quality targets
  • Producing accurate and timely reports
