Overview

We are looking to take on a number of Tutors to begin work immediately. The successful Tutor with Rhondda Council will have the opportunity to work with Primary and Secondary aged pupils in settings across Rhondda, where staff are committed to providing the very best education and opportunities for all learners. The Local Authority is dedicated to creating a dynamic and inclusive community, whilst also promoting unique and relevant skills to prepare students for the next steps in their careers and development.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic Tutor who is ready to motivate and maintain high standards of learning. As a Tutor you will support learners with basic skills, study skills, well-being and pastoral issues. A strong level of Maths and Literacy is required as some pupils will be studying for their GCSE exams. All students being tutored through this project will be on a 1-2-1 basis and additional training will be provided to support accurate processes when working in this environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1-2-1 tutoring to learners across primary and secondary ages.
• Support learners with basic skills, study skills and well-being, including pastoral issues.
• Assist pupils who are preparing for GCSE exams with Maths and Literacy as needed.
• Work within a dynamic, inclusive learning environment and maintain high standards of learning.

Requirements / Qualifications

• QTS is required – essential for the role
• Level 3 or Coaching qualification relating to Education (not essential)
• Experience in a learning support capacity (skills, pastoral, and well-being) (not essential)
• Strong classroom and behavioural management skills/experience with challenging behaviours
• Clear commitment to learner support and well-being with an inclusive, learner-centred focus
• Confidence and ability to communicate clearly with different groups (young people, parents, external organisations, academic staff)
• Driving licence is essential
