Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen to join Chesterfield Royal Hospital as a Midwifery Support Worker on a 12-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

The post holder will support and assist midwives in delivering holistic, evidence-based antenatal and postnatal care to women and their families.

The post holder will undertake unsupervised aspects of care and therapeutic intervention as delegated by the midwife, within agreed guidelines and sphere of responsibility.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Support midwives to ensure women receive high standards of maternity care throughout the service.
  • Work a shift pattern that covers weekends and bank holidays, including 24‑hour shifts.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and patients, providing information and reassurance.
  • Assist with documentation, keeping accurate records in line with NHS data protection and confidentiality requirements.
  • Follow established protocols and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
