Job description
Overview

International parents in Central London are seeking a discreet and highly skilled maternity nurse to care for their second child, expected early January 2026. The role is self‑employed, with an hourly rate of £18 gross and a contract up to 6 months, starting 20th January 2026 (or 1st February depending on the baby’s arrival).

Responsibilities
  • Provide expert newborn care and support to the parents immediately after birth.
  • Offer guidance, reassurance and education to parents, helping them adjust to life with a new baby.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain a friendly, approachable demeanor.
  • Involve the older son in the process whenever possible.
  • Collaborate with the family and adapt to their routines, fostering a nurturing environment for the baby.
  • Travel to and from the home as required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Qualified Maternity Practitioner (L3 minimum) with a DBS and enhanced DBS certificate.
  • 12‑hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a maternity nurse or in a similar role.
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the update service.
  • Minimum of two professional referees, one of whom must be a current or former employer.
Contract & Working Hours
  • Contract length: up to 6 months.
  • Hours: 20 hours per week plus a 4‑hour break.
  • Days required: 6 days a week, with one mid‑week day off.
  • Location: Central London.

  • Travel is part of the role; a small travel allowance will be provided.
  • Accommodation: bed in the nursery and staff room for day off.
  • Other staff in the home: housekeeper.
  • Self‑employed status: candidates must issue their own contract and provide a Unique Tax Reference.
