Overview
Thrive Personnel Ltd are looking for an experienced Raw Materials Planner to join our clients food production team in Pontefract.
Responsibilities
- Review raw materials against purchase specifications.
- Update supplier specifications as needed, in collaboration with the technical team, to maintain current approved standards.
- Ensure the correct quality of raw materials is used to meet customer specifications; take a proactive approach as this is a factory-based role.
- Report all findings, both positive and negative, to the Technical Manager, Commercial and Operational Teams, and communicate with suppliers.
- Aim to improve the overall quality of all raw materials used on site.
- Build supplier relationships based on compliance, integrity, and a collaborative approach.
- Quantify and discuss any improvements to butchery methods or packaging formats within the site teams before approaching the supplier.
- Issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) or Rejection Notices for any raw material not meeting specifications and communicate this within the site teams.
- Conduct site visits to suppliers to support the Technical Manager in improving specifications and addressing quality issues.
- Support the understanding of butchery specifications and cuts of meat used in the product among Production Leaders and staff members.
- Create regular reports and trend analyses to keep customer performance up to date.
- Conduct weekly/monthly calls with suppliers to manage performance as the role develops.
- Add value to raw materials by utilizing butchery knowledge.
- Prepare for and participate in factory visits and technical audits.
- Conduct product assessments against agreed parameters during raw material intake and production, using various monitoring methods (Foss analyzing, cook-ups, and butchery).
- Perform online raw material reviews and assessments to support supplier claims or material downgrades.
Qualifications
- Strong butchery knowledge across Beef, Lamb, and Pork
- HACCP trained.
- Food hygiene.
- Willing to undertake further training to develop within the role and support the business as and when required and when change in the food industry or customer COP.
Preferred Skills
- Computer literate with ability to use Excel and Word to an intermediate level (constructing graphs, data trending etc)
- Understanding of 3rd party audits and government enforcements BRC/EFsi s/Red tractor/Retailers/EHO/TSO
- Collaborator and ability to drive improvement and development.
- Understanding of written specification systems based and hard copies
