Team Description
The Markets Control team is a dynamic team working to support the BNY Markets execution business in:
- FX
- Fixed Income and Equities
- Liquidity and Margin Services
- Securities Finance
We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Markets Control Manager in our Markets Controls Team in London.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
- Run a team that are working to build and enhance accountability and control capabilities of BNY Markets. This is achieved through the continued development of mitigating controls to strengthen the Markets Control Supervision framework. Examples of control that strengthen the supervisory framework include Cancel & Amends, Trader Mandate exception alerting and out of hours and off‑premises trading checks. The successful candidate will be able to understand and assist with interpreting trade and booking workflows and apply that knowledge to development of associated controls.
- Promote a strong regulatory mindset across the Markets business through a thorough knowledge and understanding of both global regulation (including FINRA/MiFID/MAR) and financial markets. As a result, the successful candidate will be able to provide regulatory input into market abuse surveillance activities, dealing with enquires from second line Compliance surveillance colleagues, assisting with compilation of the market abuse risk assessment and where required, assisting with market abuse parameter reviews.
- Solid understanding of pricing dynamics in global markets and be responsible for helping oversee pricing check controls for FX, Equities and Fixed Income trading, operated by the first line Controls team through proprietary built and vendor tools. The candidate will be able to identify and elevate to the business instances where clients may not have received best execution and manage associated governance meetings, where best execution is reviewed. Where proprietary tools need to be developed or further enhanced, the candidate will be able to deal with model risk partners and manage the product development lifecycle working with development teams.
- Thorough knowledge of global market abuse surveillance requirements and how controls need to be applied to trades, orders, eComms and voice recording. This will enable the candidate to assist in compilation of the annual market abuse risk assessment process which is driven by Compliance colleagues requiring input from lines of business. In addition, the successful candidate will be able to act as a point of control for any surveillance related enquires to the business from Compliance teams.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
- Relevant experience in a similar Risk and Control, Compliance, Audit or Regulatory role.
- Experience gained from a Regulatory organization would be beneficial.
- Thorough knowledge of financial markets, particularly fixed income and equity products.
- Strong working knowledge of the applicable regulatory principles and rules, such as market abuse, best execution and information barriers would be advantageous.
- Experience operating surveillance systems, investigating potentially abusive behaviour and dealing with trading staff.
- Investigative skills and an analytical mindset are essential.
- Oral and written communication skills in English and the ability to understand compliance policies and process assigned tasks in accordance with procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree preferred.
