Overview
The EO Marketing department acts as a centre of excellence, and is tasked with supporting all European local subsidiaries through a wide range of pan-European marketing investments. These include shared services, innovation projects, investment pilots, insights and analytics, and pan-European governance. The EO Marketing Planning Team sits within the EO Marketing organisation, and its purpose is to provide a range of support functions to the EO teams, across E-Store, Digital Marketing, Retail, Brand, PR, and Consumer Market Intelligence. This includes, the management of the European marketing investment portfolio, carrying out investment analysis & reporting, facilitating project ROI & KPI reviews, setting departmental budgets, and supporting with the end-to-end investment & finance process.
Responsibilities
- End-to-end management of the marketing investment process, working closely with European marketing teams to support delivery of projects, including ongoing communication with stakeholders across the business (project owners, procurement, finance & legal).
- Ownership of investment process improvements, including setting supporting documentation requirements, reviewing backup for each investment, and coordinating with Legal and Procurement to optimise the process; provide training on process, financial compliance, documentation, and KPI requirements.
- Project return on investment optimisation: assist the Marketing Commercial Finance Manager in optimising investments, including ensuring SMART metrics are set, validating KPIs align with framework, ensuring the business case fits EO marketing strategy, and facilitating post-project reviews.
- Management of the Marketing Investment Dashboard: bi-weekly report generation, data cleansing from Finance (NERP), Procurement (BQMS), and Legal (SELMS), and analysis to flag bottlenecks and risks.
- Vendor roster management across categories: Brand, PR, Events, Digital Operations & Analytics, and Consumer Market Intelligence.
- Budget Control: management of individual team budgets, tracking remaining funds, spend to date, forecasted expenditure, and mitigation of budget expenditure risk.
- Open accrual management: coordinating with vendors, Project Owners and Accounts Payable to close aged accruals from previous years.
- Ad-hoc projects (e.g., savings analysis via FX rate optimization, inter-company transfers): ensure investments have clear ROIs/KPIs and measure ROI/KPI at payment stage; collate results in a separate file by line manager.
- Investments commence in a timely manner, without delays to the originally set date.
- Marketing budget is fully spent by 31 December each year; no budget is lost or left unused.
Qualifications / Skills
- Soft skills: Attention to detail; ability to take full ownership of a business process; positive and proactive attitude; ability to work independently; excellent partner management and teamwork skills.
- Essential hard skills: Strong MS Office; advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, V-Lookup, updating datasets, formula writing); proficiency in PowerPoint and Word; proficiency with SAP or similar ERP system.
