Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Marine Manager / DPA to join our clients fleet management team. This is a leadership role responsible for leading the marine department and ensuring compliance with the company Safety Management Systems and maritime legislation.

This role requires sound knowledge of marine safety and is suited to an individual with excellent communication, management and leadership skills in a dynamic environment

SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

Essential:

  • Sailed to a senior rank (Chief Officer/Master).
  • Minimum of 3 years' shore-based experience in a vessel management or marine safety capacity.
  • In depth knowledge of the ISM Code, SMS principles, and marine safety legislation.
  • Strong leadership with the ability to manage and mentor shore based and seagoing personnel.
  • Proven experience managing vessel operations, audits, incident investigations, and training programmes.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving.


Desirable:

  • Degree in Maritime Studies or similar (or equivalent experience).
  • Recognised Auditor qualification (ISM/ISPS/ISO).
  • Crisis Management or Emergency Response training.
  • Familiarity with fleet management systems and marine digital platforms.


JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Manage Marine department including Superintendents and Fleet Master.
  • Ensure the SMS is effectively developed, implemented, and maintained in accordance with ISM Code and maritime conventions.
  • Coordinate company audits and manage findings, corrective actions and follow up measures.
  • Management of incident investigations ensuring promulgation of lessons learned and implementation of corrective measures.
  • Act as Crisis Manager and report directly to the Head of Fleet on all safety-related matters.
  • Ensure vessels are maintained in a seaworthy condition and comply with company and statutory requirements.
  • Report and manage any deficiencies or compliance issues as required.
  • Promote a safety culture throughout.
  • Ensure compliance for company DPA and CSO responsibilities.
