Manufacturing Engineer

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000

EMBS Engineering are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support and improve operational performance within a high‑precision manufacturing environment. This role plays a key part in daily operations, new product and process introduction, and continuous improvement, ensuring safe, robust, and efficient manufacturing processes that meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.

Due to the nature of the markets our client supplies into, all candidates must be UK residents, and DBS checks will be required. Please note we cannot offer visa sponsorship for overseas candidates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in daily operations meetings as required, taking ownership of manufacturing engineering issues through to resolution.
  • Understand value stream process constraints and operating rules, actively contributing to problem‑solving activities to improve flow and performance.
  • Create, control, and maintain manufacturing documentation to the correct version, including set‑up packs, stage drawings, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Take accountability for defined milestones within the NPDI gated process, completing all Manufacturing Engineering activities such as cost estimation, stage drawings, manufacturing routes, and customer approvals.
  • Ensure all required tooling and fixturing is designed, manufactured, and available to support safe, efficient, and repeatable production.
  • Use appropriate engineering software to create and validate CNC programmes that achieve required cycle times and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain a continuous improvement pipeline by supporting LEAN and GEMBA activities and generating ideas to improve EHS, Quality, Cost, and Delivery.
  • Apply structured problem‑solving methodologies to identify root cause and improve process and quality capability.
  • Participate in problem‑solving peer reviews, training, and awareness activities to support a strong problem‑solving culture.
  • Implement and project manage solutions, including working with suppliers and customers, proving new technologies, completing PFMEA activities, and validating new processes.
  • Support internal and external audits, addressing findings and implementing corrective actions where gaps are identified.
Successful applicants MUST be able to demonstrate:
  • Experience working within an Aerospace or Automotive production environment.
  • HND or higher qualification in Electronic Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Excellent knowledge of CNC machining techniques.
  • Demonstrable experience defining methods of manufacture for complex products and assemblies.
  • CAD/CAM experience in a relevant software package, with SolidWorks/CAM preferred.
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Project.
