We currently have two opportunities available: 1x Income Assistant and 1x Management Accountant. On application, please indicate if you have a preference for either role.

As an FSD Level 3 accredited Finance department, training and development is at the heart of what we are about.You must be studying towards and have ambitions to be a fully CCAB or CIMA qualified accountant or have a transferrable level of experience.

This exciting opportunity will allow the successful candidate to work in an engaging andforward-thinking organisation and be responsible for key objectives. The Management Accountant will support the Financial Management team in the provision of financial information, analysis and advice to managers and staff within the Trust in the most timely and effective manner.

We are looking for team players with excellent communication and relationship building skills to join the team. New staff can expect a warm welcome but will need to have the ability to build relationships with the team and division whilst working remotely for part of the working week. Applicants should be able to and be comfortable in working in this way as our 'agile' working principles continue to evolve.

Main duties of the job

Management Accountant:

  • Ensuring comprehensive and timely monthly reporting of Directorates' financial position.
  • Supporting the setting of the Directorate revenue budgets
  • Assisting in the training of budget holders and managers in budgetary management and control.
  • Assisting in the training and development of individuals within Financial Management.

Income Assistant:

  • Support the income team with day-to-day transactional activities, including invoicing, data processing, reconciliations, and income reporting.
  • Maintain and update contract and patient-related income records in financial systems, ensuring timely recognition of income and cash inflows.
  • Liaise with internal and external colleagues to resolve queries, improve data quality, and ensure timely recovery of income.
  • Assist with monthly and annual financial returns, support statutory submissions, and contribute to financial planning processes.
  • Build knowledge of NHS income processes and provide analysis, exception reporting, and customer-focused service in line with Trust values.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS
  • AAT Qualified or qualified by significant relevant experience Evidence of continued professional development portfolio
  • Aiming to achieve CCAB management level within next 2 years
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
  • Public Sector and/or NHS Experience. Experience of working with budget holders for budgetary management, reporting, analysis and setting Experience of working in an office environment, within a finance discipline which has included experience of a range of accounting areas and financial systems.
  • Experience of working in a management accounts environment
SKILLS
  • Ability to provide and present financial information to gain co-operation and commitment of clinicians, managers and staff. Ability to analyse and interpret numerical and verbal data and to develop and consider a range of options and make judgements where there is not, necessarily a precedent that support the delivery of service/divisional objectives Ability to contribute to the medium and long term financial planning process, advising on aspects of the financial/business plan for the service/division.
