Job description

Our well established and growing client based in Shrewsbury has an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Manager to join their busy team

Leading a small team, you will assist with the sales and purchase ledger on a variety of computer-based systems, chase debts, telephone and email communications, resolve queries and any other adhoc duties as may be required in the role or as deemed required by the company or its directors.

You will be required to ensure that the bank accounts are reconciled as required for each company and that purchase and sales ledgers for all companies are kept up to date and within the set KPI’s.

  • Review all P&L accounts to ensure costs are recorded in full and accurately
  • Prepare data from reports and other sources for use in the management accounts
  • Posting of journals, accruals and prepayments as required
  • Maintain the company fixed asset registers
  • Assist with the preparation of the companies VAT returns
  • Assist with maintaining and updating financial forecasts
  • Maintain daily/weekly/monthly bank reconciliations
  • Perform period end procedures on the accounting systems
  • Ensure purchase invoices are authorised before being paid
  • Process payments through electronic banking
  • Resolve queries, both internally and externally verbally, by email, fax, phone or post and in a professional manner in accordance with company policy
  • Seek continuous improvement of systems (both manual and computerised) used within the company

The successful candidate will benefit from recognised accounting qualifications & experience, good organisational skills, accurate with data entry, able to prioritise and have good general administration and computing skills.

This is a permanent position which can accommodate flexible part time hours and a competitive salary of £30,000 – £35,000 pro rata per annumplus further opportunities for growth.
