Maintenance Technician – £38,000 per annum – Permanent opportunity in Wrexham – Working hours: 8am - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday and 8am - 2:30pm Friday.

The Role

As a Maintenance Technician, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the seamless operation of a state-of-the-art production facility by maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving a wide range of mechanical and PLC-controlled equipment. Working at the heart of a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you will be instrumental in driving efficiency, reducing downtime, and contributing towards world-class operational excellence.

This hands-on position demands a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety policies, procedures, and practices while carrying out tasks, operating machinery, or moving throughout the site, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Follow established maintenance protocols and systems to ensure consistent and safe operation of equipment.
  • Identify, recommend, and implement preventative maintenance measures for capital equipment where no procedures currently exist.
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and site-wide operational excellence efforts, including Lean manufacturing practices such as 5S, Kaizen, and internal programmes like ThinkSAFE and Find it Fix it.
  • Plan, schedule, and carry out routine maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Provide prompt and effective support to the Production team by responding to equipment faults or breakdowns, ensuring repairs are completed efficiently with minimal production downtime.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of PLC-controlled and other specialised equipment to enable accurate fault diagnosis and effective repair.
  • Conduct critical spare parts analysis for essential production equipment and maintain adequate stock levels to prevent operational delays.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance team to provide out-of-hours support when required, ensuring continued production and minimal disruption.
  • Accurately document all maintenance activities and work orders in accordance with internal systems.
Qualifications
  • Qualification in an Engineering discipline or demonstrable work experience
  • GCSE grade 5/C in Maths and English
  • Experience of mechanical repair of production equipment
  • Manufacturing experience
  • Good IT skills
