A waste management company is seeking a Maintenance Operative to join their team in Grays. The successful candidate will inspect and maintain waste bins, use power tools, and perform basic welding tasks. The role requires previous workshop experience and a commitment to safety. Competitive salary and benefits included.
We’re looking for a practical, hands‑on Maintenance Operative to join our team at Biffa in Thurrock – someone who takes pride in keeping equipment in top condition and working safely.
In this active role, you’ll inspect and repair trade waste bins, including fitting lids and wheels, carrying out cleaning, and performing basic welding (training provided). You’ll use power tools and load / unload bins with a forklift (if qualified). You’ll also help keep the workshop tidy, follow health and safety procedures, and work well both independently and as part of a small, friendly team.
At Biffa, we love working with waste. Whether we’re turning it into sustainable power, finding new ways to recycle it or simply keeping it off the streets, we believe every day is an opportunity to improve the lives of millions. It’s a view that’s shared by our 11,500+ people around the country, who trust us to provide them with a career that’s always rewarding, often challenging, but never dull.
Being inclusive is core to our culture at Biffa; we believe different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds are key to developing a creative and effective working environment that represents our communities and generates the best outcomes for colleagues, customers and stakeholders, which is why you’ll find us championing diversity, equity and inclusion at every turn.
