Role: Maintenance Shift Lead (Late Shift) – Bristol

Salary: £58,268 per annum plus company pension scheme, with highly competitive contribution rates, plus generous annual leave of 22.5 days and bank holidays. Permanent, Full time. Location: Bristol Mail Centre, Bristol, BS34 7ST.

We are seeking a proactive, focused candidate with a background in engineering. If you have strong skills in electrical automation and hold a relevant engineering qualification, we would love to hear from you. We are looking for a Maintenance Team Leader to join our Bristol Mail Centre.

About the Role

The Maintenance Team Leader has no direct line management and reports to the Operational Shift Manager. You will help ensure Health & Safety Policy and Guidelines are followed by Maintenance Teams while under your leadership.

On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for providing proactive technical leadership, guidance and support for all engineering automation issues within the Mail Centre. You will ensure engineering maintenance is completed to defined standards by a competent engineering workforce in a cost-effective manner. You will also:

  • Lead and coordinate the implementation of maintenance techniques to achieve asset performance and availability design criteria at all times
  • Provide and deliver technical training, coaching and development to the engineering maintenance team
  • Assist in the risk assessment process relating to automation equipment and Engineering Safe Systems of Work. Deliver modifications and ensure the configuration status of hardware/software and mechanical setup is up to date and technically managed
  • Develop the engineering team day-to-day, providing support and advice, conducting annual Individual Performance Reviews and regular development meetings to maintain high technical standards
  • Offer technical direction in line with Business Values and standards, explaining as necessary
  • Challenge unacceptable behaviour, bullying and harassment within the mail centre engineering community

13:45 – 22:15, Monday to Friday

About You

You need to possess, and be able to evidence, the skills and experience listed below:

  • Extensive background in automation engineering and maintenance
  • Hold an Engineering qualification / Engineering electrical qualification to HCN level or equivalent
  • Time served Engineering apprenticeship
  • Comfortable providing technical leadership, guidance, and support to a large team
  • Able to offer technical direction to senior stakeholders in the wider business
  • Willing to complete an ILM coaching course when in the role
