Job Purpose

Here at United Utilities, we have fantastic opportunities for qualified Maintenance Planners across the Northern operating area (Cheshire, Merseyside and Greater Manchester). You\'ll be working 37 hours across Monday to Friday and will receive an excellent salary and benefits package which includes an annual bonus, our award winning Pension Scheme, private healthcare, 26 days holiday (increasing to 30 with service) as well as loads of flexible benefits you\'ll want to hear more about.

You will be responsible for the planning and of specified maintenance activities across a number of UU sites in a defined area. You\'ll be working with the maintenance teams to deliver safe and cost effective asset reliability, playing a key part in the move from reactive to proactive maintenance. Liaising with the maintenance and operational teams you will develop maintenance job plans that are accurate and ready for work scheduling and execution. This will include; people, skillsets requirements, estimated job duration, materials or parts requirements, special tools/ equipment, developing work instructions which include essential safety requirements

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

You will be responsible for ensuring safety is at the forefront of planning activity and hazards are identified upfront for all planned maintenance activity, developing and issuing the short, medium and long term maintenance plan for assets within a designated area. You will also be responsible for:

  • Manage spares, materials, and services for maintenance activities, ensuring correct specifications and building bills of materials for critical and repeat-failure assets.
  • Review newly raised corrective work to ensure appropriate prioritisation and proactively plan asset downtime to minimise disruption to treatment processes.
  • Create, maintain, and improve a comprehensive library of maintenance job plans, adapting them to increase asset reliability in collaboration with operations and engineering teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the planning and scheduling team, aligning processes with the overall work management strategy.
  • Liaise daily with scheduling colleagues and participate in regular planning meetings to develop executable maintenance plans ranging from one week to one year.
  • Request asset availability for proactive maintenance, maximise multi-activity opportunities, and report on missed maintenance to support ongoing improvement.
